Re: BG very high at AMPS pls help

A fur shot last evening?
Go into dry food?
Maybe dose is too high? You only have one between shot reading.
Chatran is just trying to to keep your on your toes. (no real reason found)

Re: BG very high at AMPS pls help

Thanks larry.
Could be dry food. Could be fur shots.
Still not confident doing a lot of testing as I am still nervous. And he is also not well and quite stress.
He is still eating dry food though as he wouldn't eat anything else because of his condition (diarrhea, flu and haws syndrome)

Can this high bg be dangerous?

Will try to test again in 3 hours :?

Thank you again.

Re: BG very high at AMPS pls help

For my cat, Mona, she consistently had BG levels in the 400s when eating dry food and then they dropped to under 100 when she was on wet food alone. Just a little bit of dry food could be keeping your cat that high, too, even with a pretty large dose of insulin. But, it could be several of the other things mentioned, too. It's never just one factor that controls the BG numbers.

I hope he feels better all-around soon and that you can find a wet food that he does well on.

Re: BG very high at AMPS pls help

Hi Rosie,

I know that the testing takes getting used to and that you don't want to cause Chatran additional discomfort given how poorly he is at the moment. I also relate to how nervous you feel (I feel that way a lot of the time, too).

When you're nervous about doing a mid-cycle test, try to remember that although testing Chatran might be uncomfortable for him for a few moments you are doing it to keep him safe and to help him get better. That way, it might help you not to feel so bad. :YMHUG:

Re: BG very high at AMPS pls help

Thank you ladies. In Australia we don't have much of a wet/pate variety to choose from. He did love to eat FF chicken and giblet pate but now he turns his nose on everything wet.

I also want to mention he did went into a remission when he was at the vet for two weeks and he only ate hills md and wet and a month ago he decided he doesn't want to eat those.

I gave him raw meat which he like but at the moment because of his diarrhea, I don't want to gim him raw just yet. I guess for now my focus is he is eating

I am hoping he will feel better soon so i can start regulating him.

Thank you Again :YMHUG:

Hi Rosie,

I saw that high number alright, but I'm a relatively recent diabetic kitty parent so I don't have enough experience to be able to interpret and comment on actual numbers. I'm sure some of the experienced members will be able to help you. Sorry that I can't do more.
