The vet mentioned something about the possibility of a diabetes related infection. Is there such a thing in cats?
There are indications of infection, so Veraflox was prescribed. Is this safe to use with diabetes and Lantus? I've never even heard of Veraflox before. I guess it's supposed to be like Baytril, but safer.

I do not recall anyone here discussing use of Veraflox. Veraflox is the same class of antibiotics as Baytril but a much newer product. Both are made by Bayer.
Because typically there is glucose in the urine, diabetic cats are more susceptible to UTIs.

What indications of an infection does Brownie have?
