Has anyone ever replaced a Freestyle Libre sensor themselves?

Because of COVID-19 my vet isn't taking any non emergent appointments until mid April. Oscar was supposed to go and get his libre senor replaced. He's still wearing the old one.

I already have the new one, and I'm wondering if I can't just do this myself? I seen a video of someone replacing on a dog, but wondering if anyone here has ever done it themselves? Shouldn't be impossible right?

Found this video for you. The hardest part may be shaving the spot where the sensor goes.

I'd think you would want to have all the supplies ready and waiting to go first, prep as much as you can before you start. The tissue glue probably dries fast, so you want that to be the last step before you apply the new sensor.

The French language diabetes facebook group also made a video, in English back in November 2019, and talked about all the steps and why the sensor is being used. Video made by Stephanie Booth. This video also shows some of the mistakes that can be made so alerts you to things to look out for.

He has used the sensor on his cats. He may have replaced one himself.

I think @Larry and Kitties has replaced a libre on his cats. Maybe he can provide some advice. You might also search “libre” on the site.

My vet helped me attach a sensor to my Badger. I then attached two sensors to my Wiggles iwht the help of another person. The are needs to be shaved close. like how they shave an animal before surgery. I used a #50 blade which is closer than the #40 normally used before surgery. Then I cleaned the area with a soap solution and then with alcohol. I then applied a little tissue glue (https://www.amazon.com/3M-Vetbond-084-1469SB-Vetbond-Tissue-Adhesive-1469Sb/dp/B004C12Q46) Make sure that you do not get the glue dear the ousite of the sensor since if you do you will "glue" the sensor to the applicator and have to carefully pull the applicator off without removing the sensor.
