My cat Lando just began his insulin treatment when a reoccurrence of his pancreas issues flared up. The pancreas levels caused him to stop eating ( among other things). My vet was able to see him and came up with a plan, but i wondered if anyone else has experienced this combo and if it is a common flare up ( since the pancreas is so vital to diabetes). Thanks in advance!

This is very common in Diabetic cats.
My Sheba used to get flares of pancreatitis.
The treatment is supportive until the issue settles. Some cats settle quickly and other take longer.
Treatment is Sub Q fluids as the cat is often dehydrated.
Pain medications as it is a painful disease.
Antinausea medications as most cats have nausea. Cerenia and ondansetron can be both used. You may need to continue with the for a while.
Most cats who have pancreatitis are off their food, some vomit or have diarrhoea, many are in the meatloaf position because of pain.

Thank you Bron and Sheba, all very helpful info. Keeping Landos pain and QOL at good levels will be up there with me not loosing my marbles with allof this. Thanks again, well wishes

Thanks Sienne! I will check that out! Lando spent the day at the vet yesterday and after some fluids, nausea meds and and some more tests hes back home with a good appetite and maybe ready to go back to insulin shots. Luckily my vet has been great the last two days ( i know the vet is stretched thin). Thanks again for all the helpful info!
Also, all notes about “ getting through it” completely help my state of mind! It can all seem so dire when another issue popps up!
