Tori was in hospital from Monday to Friday this week with a pancreatitis flare and possible gastritis/colitis. She was discharged yesterday afternoon. Supposedly she was eating well at the vets but she sure hasn't been at home. I decided tonight to try the Liver Shake recipe that Ann and French Fry told us about. Tori lapped it up. My question is how long is the batch I made up good for? I'm hoping that this will help her get over the hump until she is eating well again. Poor baby. She's having a real hard time.

No, I haven't had a need to try it, but it is nice to hear that someone else's cat besides Anne's civie Harley likes it! :)

As far as how long it lasts, I would think with the raw egg and liver, three days max, but you can email Dr. Mallu and ask her. Her email is at the bottom of Anne's post. You might also chime in with your experience in Anne's post so others can see of your success with feeding it to Tori. :)

What were they feeding her at the vets I wonder?

I hope your little girl gets past this and feels better soon.

Hi Pamela. Thanks for responding. Dian had the idea that I should freeze the batch I made and thaw it as needed. So what I did was I divided it up into containers with 60cc each in them. I will defrost a new one overnight in the fridge each day like I do with my raw food patties. It looks like each batch gives close to a weeks supply.

Yes so far she seems to really like it and so do the boys. They tried to get their noses into it too. The first couple of times I gave it to her I gave it just straight. This morning I put it on top of her food and she lapped it up taking some of the food with her of course. She ate about 1/4 can FF that way and then I finger fed the rest. At least she's getting some nourishment.

I just find it so frustrating that she supposedly was eating well at the vets but not at home. I think she was eating DM which she normally hates. All I can think of is that having the IV made the difference. Poor baby she's had such a rough time this week.
