Harley 8/13 PMPS 393

I was going to do a curve today on his .5u dose but judging by the +3's i've been getting there doesn't seem to be much of a chance he is going very low during the cycle.

Since I was going out last night for a few hours I decided to increase to .75u since I would be able to get a +5 when I came home. His AMPS this morning was lower than usual so I'm thinking we are making progress. I will be able to get a modified curve today.

Any thoughts? Am I going to slow?

Good luck with the increase. I don't think you're going to slow with increasing Harley's dose. Some kitties see a breakthrough on the fifth day of a dose - I know Klinger has.

I don't think you are raising to fast/slow, but one thing to consider is the amount of the increase. I would have suggested going to .6u from .5u as an increase of .25u from .5u is 50%. That might be too much at this point. It can cause swings to get started even though the numbers are not too low AND he may get to that does anyway over time. Some cats just need very slow, stepped, dose changes - especially when increasing.

I hadn't thought about that. This morning was a skinny .75 because I pushed too much out. I guess I'll stick with the skinny for now.

So do I assume that this is a bounce from the blues today and that he has been hanging in the yellows all last week on the .5u? Or are there other explinations?

OK - things have happened since your last post - namely a bunch of greens! You might expect some bounce from THAT tomorrow - seems to already be happening tonight.

In answer to your question, I doubt that yesterday's evening PS was a bounce. You just changed the dose and so things were settling and often, when increasing the dose, the numbers swing a bit.

Now, today's numbers (to me) indicate that the .75 might be just a bit too much as the "shed" filled awfully fast. But he may settle on the skinny .75u so you could see what happens. Just watch for more lows and highs which could indicate the dose is just a tad high and something like .6u might be better.
