Happy New Year

How's Charlotte doing these days at The Falls?

I hope you are both well and happy! Have a great day! Happy New Year to you too!!
She’s doing well. Thanks for asking!! Tough keeping my daughter on her toes about keeping Charlotte in her bedroom while the others eat especially at night. So I have to keep a vigilant eye on that door all the time until she is back at college. I’m still checking a BG once a week for now and then I’ll go monthly.

I just had a client come in with a new diabetic. He eats dry only so we are starting the drill of pate only to see how that affects his sugar. Ketone checks weekly and I’ve directed her to this group. She’s already read the sticky notes and is getting a meter to check him daily. If the moist only is not enough to bring him down, then she will start insulin. I don’t think she wants to do lantus so it’ll be PZI. I’ve told her how this group is very user friendly and extremely helpful and to jump right in here! Her cat is very unpredictable so I wasn’t able to run much bloodwork as he was trying to kill us! No urine infection and last year his teeth were ok. Hopefully he will be ok with her checking his blood at home. She’s suppose to set up a spreadsheet. Her name is Kris and her cat is Ballus (sp?).

Have a great day everyone!!

Is there a particular reason that you can't feed all the cats the same food? Low carb is species appropriate for all of them. (I was driving myself crazy when Gabby was diagnosed. I was trying to feed her one thing and the other cat something else. Given that I had to have them contained because Gabby developed ringworm after an exposure at the ER vet, I couldn't separate them unless I wanted to disinfect the entire house on a x2/week basis.) Someone here pointed out that both cats would be fine on a diabetic diet.

Unfortunately I have one older cat that is on low protein -k/d which she absolutely loves and we know what the carb content is in that food!!

Happy New Year!
I am continually reminding DH that Scooter is still diabetic and must not have human food. I go behind him putting stuff away off the counters all the time.
Unless they’ve walked in the shoes that we all have worn, they just don’t get it! My daughter said the same to me - she’s all better though?! But I have to remind her that she will always have that lurking in her history unfortunately.
