Hi all, Okay, so day 1 1/2 of Handsome getting one unit of Prozinc 2xs a day, and what a difference already. He is on an antibiotic for his infection as his WBC is 17,864. He is eating more wet food and he is more alert and more active. I have ordered the freestyle Lite meter. I did test him 4xs yesterday and his numbers were dropping (PS=346, +2= 296, +3= 281 +5=346) then the bounce I saw others mention at +5. I did not test today as I was using my Dario meter and it is attached to the cell phone and a bit harder to handle. I got the strips for the freestyle today so will test tomorrow. Also got Neosporin with pain relief as well. He goes for his curve testing at vets next week and then from there I will do curve at home. So a good start and at this point no questions, just an update. I Will work on getting spreadsheet up and saved so I can track what is going on with this old guy!
Thank you
Vicky

you are off to a great start. Let us know if you have any questions.

Hi all,
he is doing much better his numbers are doing well and link is in signature.
Numbers are okay, still a bit high i think but getting there..
OKay, a few questions..
  • what is NORMAL, what is the target range for cats for glucose testing
  • are there any supplements that anyone is using that appear to help such as Lysine, vitamins, etc that I can mix in his food
  • Ketoacidosis, was told to watch for this as we do not know how long Handsome has had this and doc was concerned so what meter are you all using?
Okay for now I think that is all I can think of.
Thank you again!

You are using a human meter so your target range is 50-120.

B12 methylcobalamin can help prevent or treat neuropathy.

I use a keto MOJO ketone meter but may switch soon because they discontinued the model I have and the new model is hard to get strips for and expensive. Look on amazon there are several brands.

Hi there..thank you for the info. Will look into the keto meter. Oh yes..the freestyle lite is a human bg meter.
Thanks again
Vicky and Handsome!
