After I spoke with my vet about Gypsy's worsening condition, we decided to take her in to the vet. Sadly, my vet felt that Gypsy most likely had a brain tumor, and that's why we were seeing a continual decline in her symptoms, and the sudden worsening today. So, we decided that Gypsy had fought the fight, and let her go to be in peace away from suffering. She went very quickly, very peacefully. I try to picture her scampering around with all the beloved furry ones we've lost over her entire lifetime.....Care Bear, Cinnamon, Jasmine, Sam, Cowboy, Schultzie, Tequila, and Radar.

Goodbye my sweet Gypsy, my attic kitty...you knew this was your home even before we did. You'll always remain a part of our hearts.

Debra

I'm so sorry Debra for your loss of another kitty. (((Debra)))

i want to say, i'm not on the board much anymore and especially this time of year and just saw your threads but as i read the other one first, brain tumor was the first thing that came to mind as i read. you did right by Gypsy. i'm entering a period myself right now where i'm having to deal with one of my guys' body failing him soon and i keep reminding myself that i have to do right by him and not let him suffer. it's horrible for us but we have to put them first. again, (((Debra)))

Oh ((((((((((((((((((((DEBRA))))))))))))))))))))))

I am so very sorry. Gypsy had a wonderful life with you. My deepest sympathy. Gypsy is flying free now, whole and healthy over the Rainbow Bridge. rb_icon

So very sorry for your loss. You did the right thing; and I know it was very hard to do. My thoughts are with you today.

((Debra)) I am so sorry. I know you did what was best even though that doesn't ease the heart ache. Fly free sweet Gypsy...you will be missed.

Gypsy had some wonderful kitty friends waiting for her at the Bridge. My heartfelt sympathy to you, Debra, and your hubby on the loss of your Gypsy. She chose your home and she was loved by you and she was given so many years because you took her in that she may never have had. You did right by your girl.....you loved her enough to help her leave her failing body. So sad though and it hurts so much even though you know it was time for her.

Thank you all! We have asked to have Gypsy's remains cremated, and instead of purchasing an urn through my vet, I searched online for an urn. I have ordered this one http://www.perfectmemorials.com/cat-basket-personalize-p-11143.html
The engraving I've ordered will say:

Gypsy
From being our attic cat to becoming our dolphin cat...
You knew this was your home before we knew you.
You will always be a part of our hearts.

It'll also have pawprints engraved on both sides of the engraving.

We miss her terribly, but both of us know that even though we did the best that we could for Gypsy, sometimes our "best" isn't good enough. She's at peace now, no more weekly vet visits, no more meds, no more suffering.

Debra

I love the urn and what you chose to say on it but a whole year+ before you can get it? Did they make a mistake in the date for ordering? Feel like I should order some now and have in advance.

I noticed that too, Hope, as I linked the site here, but I've gotten an "in transit" notice from FedEx, with an expected delivery date of Sept. 12th, 2012. Maybe I bought their last one? When I placed my order the site didn't have anything saying that they were out of stock, so hopefully it'll be here this Wednesday.

Since my own kitty died two weeks ago today I know how you are feeling. It is a great great gift to release them before they go thru too much discomfort. You showed Gypsy great caring to help her go before she suffered too much.
