The vet called and had good news on regarding the diabetes. She said it was normal...t he kidney numbers are 38.. I think 36 is high normal.. so we should be happy. She does not know the reason why he is urinating so much..... all in all I am happy.

Another possibility to check is Hyperthyroid -- it also causes lots of drinking and peeing.

And -- a older cat can be in the upper end of NORMAL and still have Hyperthyroid. So a FREE T4 test might be needed to confirm diagnosis.

What kidney number is it? Bun (Urea) or Creatinine? Do you know the urine specific gravity? If the kidney number is creatinine then Greylie could have a kidney insufficiency (a better term than chronic kidney failure).

teh vet just said 36 is high normal and Greylie is a little higher.... he had a wellness blood test and that thyroid test would have been included I think.... she said that all that urine is probably because he is 16.

Uhhhh...there is some medical reason for lots of peeing....not just age.

Call back and get clarificaton.

I question this 'diagnosis'.
