Hello All. I hope i'm doing this posting thing in the correct place!
I have a diabetic cat, Mischief. He's approx 8 1/2 years old, but he had diabetes when I got him on Valentines Day 2008 after his owner passed away after a long bout with cancer.
When I first got him, his readings were off the chart. The poor guy was so sick, getting him healthy almost broke me financially, but he's much better now. Turns out he's insulin resistant, so that makes it much harder to regulate and keep him regulated. He's still not where we want him to be, but way better than he used to be!

I'm excited to join this group and meet others who have been through or are going through the same things i'm going through.

Welcome aboard! This is definitely the right place to be. You will comforted to know that there many good people here who understand this disease and are very caring and generous with knowledge and advice.

Welcome! What a beautiful boy. And how wonderful that you adopted him.

We do have people with insulin resistant cats. Can you share some information like insulin, dose, home testing numbers, diet?

I wanted to ask a few questions so we have some info, but first, what do you mean Mischief has turned out to be insulin resistant? Did you have him tested for resistance? The tests are for IGF-1 and IAA.

OK can you let us know what insulin he is getting now, what dose and times.
Also, what sort of a diet is he one, as well as any treats.
Does Mischief have any other health issues or just the diabetes.

The more you can let us know, the better we can help and guide you to the best forums here, likely based on the insulin you are giving.
