This is my second post and we are newly dealing with our 12 1/2 year old cat being diagnosed with diabetes. Our cat is normal weight but we did see recent loss (going down from 12 pounds to 11 pounds) that prompted our visit to the vet when he was diagnosed. Now that we have switched to Fancy Feast Classic from dry food -- he is still grazing as he did when he was on the dry food. The vet said he should be getting three cans but now he only seems to get down two. 1. I'm concerned about more weight loss and 2. How does it effect his insulin injections. Currently he is only getting 1 unit at 10am and 1 unit at 10pm. We are hoping to do the glucose curve tomorrow. Thanks for being supportive during this difficult time.

There are two schools of thought: some people like to feed several meals a day and feel that supports the pancreas. Others like to feed twice daily. Whatever works for you and your cat. The only stipulation is to pull up the food 2 hours before the preshot testing, so that number is unaffected by food.
