Good morning -

After all the noisemakers, funny hats and green beer (Grayson, not me!), he checked in this morning with a morning preshot of 426. Not sure why we keep going back to the red... I shot him w/ 3.8u - we'll see where that takes him.

Hope everyone has a yellow/blue/green/blue/yellow day (YBGBY day)!
 
After some thorough analysis of his trends, Teresa has done a new sliding scale for the Poopster. I need to follow her example and do the same on Grayson!

...maybe there are trends there, lurking in the shadows that I'm currently overlooking. I'm trying to be better at recording every detail and logging that in the block above his ss readings. And I'm already able to anticipate some of his numbers... up til now it's been somewhat of a crap shoot. Based on seeing the numbers - associated w/ the 0 carb food yesterday, I'm seeing a steady drop of about 25 pts/hour - even taking into consideration the food spike he got at AMPS. His +3 was right on the money. Of course he was famished so I went back to the 0 carb while doing fluids... he should be another 25 or more in an hour - and the 0 carb will help me get accurate mid-cycle numbers. Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner! Thanks Teresa!!!

Looks like a another "IHOP" day - flat as a pancake! :YMSIGH:
 
I think of it as a flat day, but when I calculated the drop, I guess 1-(312/426) = a respectible 27%. I guess if I'd dipped down into another color, it may have seemed like more of a drop! Slowly [my choice] increasing the dose, per vet's recommendation.

I see you bumped up the PM dose to 4u even. And I see what you mean about Grayson having an IHOP day. At least his PMPS came in lower than the AMPS. With the bump up to 4u, are you expecting a lower number come morning?
 
Thanks... now that he keeps popping up into the 400s I'm inclined to shoot sooner than 12 hrs. I know that's not encouraged, but I would like to get his baseline a little lower. Hoping to see something with the slightly higher dose - we'll see! Seems like I always have something going on around +4 or +5... and tend to miss those numbers...

I would be okay with that - although it's really a means to see if he needs more insulin to deepen his "smile" at nadir. That's what I'm hearing, although I was kinda freaked out when the vet told me one of her patients is on 8 units (PER shot!) - I just thought he'd be like all the other kids on 1 or 2!

He was laying in the doorway a few minutes ago, and I just noticed how happy he looks. On his stomach facing me, tail wagging in the air w/ a nice little hook at the top! I LOVE that tail! :-D

Kim and I were just talking about that this afternoon. It's certainly a good idea to have him tested for it - if nothing else, to rule it out as a possibility... or conclude that high dosing IS what he needs. Either way, I'm gonna see if I can have it done this week. Thanks for proactively looking beyond the number.

Looking a lot better now with the 4.0u. Looks like you are getting closer to his dose.

Hope to keep seeing his numbers get lower. Glad to hear grayson looks better too. That is always an encouraging sign.
