Hello friends -

I know we're not very good about being around much, but I do check in occasionally on everyone and offer my thoughts. Tomorrow is officially one year since we switched to Levemir, after "swimming in a sea of pinks" for most of the previous 5 months. A LOT has happened since then: the switch, his one and only time boarding, several business trips, his trip to Colorado State University for SRT to zap his pituitary tumor that causes Acromegaly, climbing the dosing ladder (acro's are guzzlers), flying to Grandma's at Christmas, coming down the dosing ladder a little way, and now - several days of his best numbers ever! :mrgreen:

On Sunday I posted that I was sick of these crazy weeks of bad numbers (interspursed with good weeks, that is). So I check him and get a 341 :shock: I had to be aggressive... so I gave him 2uR - although normally it takes him 3uR to see a move. Well, it moved him alright! He's not been over 200 since Sunday at noon! Even got to have himself a little bit of 20% carb GRAVY food a couple of times! He likes gravy! ;-)

Along with the lower numbers, has been lower doses, and lower appetite. No poop issues this time, just less intake; therefore less output. And he's not scavenging to get every crumb that hits the floor, or everyone elses' food. (although he'd still sell me for a bowl of Kitt-N-Kaboodle! - some things NEVER change!) He's still catching a chair before he jumps to the table - he's filled out his little 22 pound suit again. No more anorexic looking 12 pounder lately!

So the report is good. Good numbers, better dosing (after 45 weeks we're seeing SRT results - they said as many as 70 weeks to see a significant change), better overall ... and the Ps are back! I couldn't have gotten to this point without all the help from here and the Acro folks. Thank you all - and hang on for the ride - it's not over just yet!

Lu,
Grayson is so lucky to have you as his mom. You work so hard & so dedicated. You do a amazing job with Grayson. I know at times it's been frustrating for you, but you kept on...like all of us do for our sweet furry friends. Grayson is so special & just needs a little extra attention then the "average cat"....(who wants one of those?) I hope Grayson continues to get better & his BG number continue to be lower every day.

Here is lots of hugs & well wishes to the next big hill on the roller coaster ride. :YMHUG: Hold on!! :lol:

Grayson be a good boy cat_pet_icon

Hi Grayson...mom told me you are doing lots better. So good to hear you are being good....it's about time. Been telling you for many months to be good & stay away from cat(2)_steam . Those kind of cats are no good for you. Gotta give the flat thing back to mom now...talk to you soon. Baxter.

Wow, Grayson is looking great right now! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: Hard to believe it's a year on Levemir and a little bit more than than since his acro dx. So much has happened since. Great report on Grayson and funny that he's not the scavenger any more. The other day I woke up to find two pieces of cheese STILL on the kitchen floor. :lol:

Happy acro anniversary Grayson- moms been taking excellent care of you :-D

Glad to hear all that trouble you went through is finally paying off and you are coming down the dosing ladder!

Wow - Thanks for all the kind words!

He ended up going just shy of a week with all blues & greens from the beginning of this thread! Unbelieveable!!! He seems to give me nice numbers, then a week or two of pinks/yellows... and that's where'we've been lately. So today I cracked the whip & brought out the R again.... and he's been surfing greens for 4+ hours! Hopefully he'll stay low and give me some more good days with the lower numbers.

So those variables we always talk about:

I control:
* Insulin dose & R
* Food type, quantity & frequency

He controls:
* response to the weather
* any flare-ups of his ear infection

Other:
* Weather
* Phase of the moon
* Sputtering of the [acro] pituitary tumor
* Insulin resistance

...so it looks like Other is mostly in charge! Here's to hoping we overpower "Other" very soon!

That post made me think instantly of LOST. Did you watch it? Made me think of the "Others" (on the island) that were a big mystery - until they weren't anymore, lol.

I think the truth of the matter is that we control NOTHING, we just think we control some things... :roll:

We need some "LIKE" buttons on here like FB!

Yes, I did watch Lost! That's a great comparison. :lol:

Nothing like losing control of most variables for the control freak! :lol:
