Our beloved Gradycat has left us this Christmas, bereft and heartbroken. After successfully getting him OTJ a couple of months ago, he suddenly began having intense pain in his mouth. We took him to the vet last Friday and they recommended a full tooth extraction as all of his teeth were in an awful state of decay and made it impossible to eat. He was admitted on Monday, the surgery was performed successfully on Christmas Eve, but somehow he contracted pneumonia. To their credit, the hospital staff did everything they could, but we got the call around 2 am this morning recommending euthanasia as there was nothing more they could do and he was not responding to medication. We gave them permission and then bawled our eyes out. I then had to go around the house collecting up all of his things which just made me feel worse, but I thought I should do it to save my wife the agony of the task later on.
I want to thank everyone that helped us with Grady's diabetes. We would have been lost without you guys, as we will now be without our gentle, loving Gradycat.
