Just wanted to update everyone in Grady. We are in a routine with the 2 main meals and 2 smaller meals with boiled chicken added as needed. I checked in with his vet and she is quite pleased with his progress and not concerned about his low numbers. She said his ideal weight would be 15 lbs and that 300 calories is perfect for that. She wants me to keep testing for another week and then just watch for signs that his numbers are getting too high. I guess I will have to go back and re-read how to monitor moving forward.

We are cautiously optimistic but also realize that things can change.

Happy day 11 and wow on those 30's  We've seen kitties not on insulin in the 40's but not many in the 30's. As for monitoring moving forward. Most will continue checking once a day for a while, then move to every other day, then once a week forever. This way if something does change you catch it early with the best chance of nipping it in the tushy. Just my 2 cents :)

Go Grady :D:D

Ok good to know. That makes a lot of sense.

I was wondering about the 30s. Seems low to me! Of course since he was hitting 200s, 300s and even a 400 3 weeks ago... I am going to keep a close eye on him. He was in the 40s this morning.

Looking great Grady!

How new are your test strips? We did have one caregiver with a cat in the 30's during the OTJ trial, and she discovered later that her strips were old.

How is Grady feeling? His legs getting better?

I'd still plan on getting bloodwork done just to be safe. Is Grady eating good, acting fine etc?

Yep. He loves to eat :) and is relatively more active now because he can get around more easily. Definitely doing things he has not done in a while. I am going to give it another few days just to see if his body is regulating itself and then go in for bloodwork. I want to stay on top of everything. Although, like I said, the vet did not seem concerned.

Brand new pack with a new code (F-4 vs F-3). I will doublecheck the date when I get home, although we were seeing the 30s on the old pack too. But good idea to check.

Yes, he seems to be feeling great. Very perky. Got into my laundry this morning and had a fight with the dryer ball and a bra...he has not done that in a while. His legs are definitely getting better. He has not been able to jump up on the counter in a while but he looked like he wanted to yesterday. I had to warn him not to. And he is not having as much difficulty going up and down the stairs so he is doing it more and making less noise. When his legs were at their worst, he thumped up and down the stairs as he dragged his legs. It was awful to hear.

Grady is is really going well. Again those 30's just amaze me.

FWIW
I test daily, and George is about 10mths OTJ, I was always a testaholic.

Congrats on Day 11! :D

My Jersey was one who threw some 30s during her OTJ trial....not as many as Grady, but enough to make me worry. When I switched to new test strips, the numbers did seem to go up a bit. Of course, we still catch her in the 40s sometimes. And when she isn't in the 40s, I worry. (But if she is in the 40s, I worry, too.) You know how that goes....:joyful:

Glad she's feeling better, and congrats again!
