I worked on the spreadsheet tonight. I've been using a vet meter all month but starting tomorrow morning will be switching to a human meter tomorrow morning (relion confirm). I will redo the spreadsheet once I start the new meter but I wanted to get some advice about Angel's number so far.
My first successful test with her on the 3rd of March came out at 203. I let the vet know and he instructed me to reduce her insulin from 2 units twice a day to 1 unit twice a day. After doing this as you can see, her numbers shot right back up again. It's been a battle ever since. After reading a lot of posts in this community and learning as I go, I feel like when Angel's numbers were in the 300's we should have been more patient instead of increasing again (doctors orders). Because as soon as we increased her numbers shot up super high and then dropped down to 97 which I know how is technically an OK number even though the vet instructed us to give her syrup which brought her numbers back up to over 500. Uhggg.. This breaks my heart because overall, she NEVER seems sick. Ever. She is a happy loved cat. Her appetite is great, she's loving and nothing really has changed in her personality. But seeing numbers like I'm seeing I know she is very sick.
I honestly do not trust her vet. All he keeps wanting me to do is increase increase increase. He told me that he cares for some cats that are on 20units twice a day. I was shocked and didn't know if I believed him or not. He told me this after I questioned him wanting me to increase her dose to 4 units twice a day.
Monday after her numbers got down below 100 we decided to put her back at 2 units twice a day and see how she does. She is now back up to 3 units twice a day and I'm hoping within the next couple days we see some kind of improvement.
Thanks for any advice in advance!
