Got my first ear flick, getting the hang of it now.

Last night I experienced my first ear flick. I kind of squealed with joy because a) we got blood at all, b) it was on one of the first tries and c) she didn't cry. I think we're getting the hang of this! I think for us it might be the angle. I've started to try to go in with a pretty large angle and it seems to hurt her less and produces enough blood but not too much (I think I've been bruising her with our straight down, big bleed pokes  ) Now on to trying to get her to eat wet food only!

nailbite_smile Thankyou for your post! My Savannah's ears also have bruises and I feel terrible. I will try with the vaseline and the different angle tonight. What these poor cats have to put up with in the beginning! Savannah's mom

You can use neosporin with pain relief on Savannah's ears. Also, hold her ear for a few second after you get the test. It will minimize bruising.
