So our Binky has been having stomach issues for 2 years now. He would start throwing up, look very uncomfortable. Each time we took him to the vet, they did bloodwork which showed high white blood cell count, he had a temp. They gave fluids, anitbiotic shot....basically just treated the symptoms without finding the cause. They said his sugar was high due to stress. Vet called it "garbage gut". He used to weight 16 pounds now he is 10. Long story short those episodes stopped. I always worried he could have diabetes, i finally got blood, his sugar was 73 so thank God he doesn't have that at least i hope the meter is right. Anyway i gave him some new wet food last week. He started having gas, now he is having diarrhea and drinking a lot of water and seem uncomfortable. I'm think irritable bowel may have been the problem all this time. Anyone have health issues like this?

Many kitties here have IBS. What are you feeding Binky? Most cats with IBS do best if they are fed a novel protein diet. My IBS kitty ate an entirely poultry diet for years when he started having problems with diarrhea and vomiting. I switched him over to novel proteins (e.g., a raw diet of pork, venison, or lamb along with some canned venison or lamb and rabbit). The IBS was diagnosed by a surgical biopsy.

There's a wonderful website, Raw Feeding for IBS Cats. Even if you don't opt for a raw diet, the site is a wealth of information, especially for symptom management. They also have a Facebook page if which is great if you are wanting to have an interaction with people who have IBS kitties.
