My two kitties are both OTJ , both love dry food but pretty much only eat FF classic. We will give them a little Young Again to give them their crunch fix. However as time goes by its easy to become more complacent and allow a little more hard food here and there. We switched to EVO cat and kitten and we starting to be a little more generous with it until I noticed Dasher starting to drink a little more water. A quick BG test revealed a 110 , my cats have not been over 100 not even close other than when they seen my suitcase out and I know the 93 I was seeing was stress related as it quickly came down.
So now after a smack to the head that I gave myself and hubby we're all back on track and numbers are back into the 70's & 80's.
I've lear a great lesson with this and wanted to share .

Once a diabetic, always a diabetic. Good reminder for us with OTJ (off-the-juice) kitties. 2 years after Wink has been off the dry food, but he is still a member of DFAA (Dry Food Addicts Anonymous). We don't keep any dry cat food in the house and make sure all the human food like bread is out of his reach too.

Ugh... I also don't keep dry food in the house except I had to run next door to borrow a cup-full because my new rescue boy was not eating anything and it was day four. He would take a few swipes off the top of some wet food but that was it. So I hought it was time to get something in his belly and then go back to transitioning. Luckily he is not diabetic - just stubborn.

I don't even want my cats to get a whiff of the dry food. It's like smoking. If you smell it or just have one - then BOOM you are wearing the patch and going through the anxiety to quit all over again. Not worth it.

Glad you saw the light. Good lesson.
