I am posting this to hopefully give some encouragement to anyone just starting out here.

We just got back from the vet and my cat's sugar today is 110.

You are welcome to read my other posts but briefly it goes like this. She ate mostly dry food, took her in three months ago and she was at 359, put her on all Fancy Feast and it dropped to 271 in about six weeks. However, during that visit the vet wanted her on all Hills Dry - a month later her sugar was up to 491 and we were supposed to start insulin.

I did not start insulin but went with all canned food again. For about a month now she is on Evo canned only and today her glucose is 110.

You will read this a million times in this forum to stay away from any dry food and I am now a firm believer in this.

Good Luck to All of you and your kitties.

That is fantastic news! How long has she been in such good numbers? Did she ever end up on the juice? It's amazing what a huge impact food plays on our health!

ETA: corrected antithesis pronouns ;-)

Thats great!!! I was wondering how she was getting on.

Keep an eye on her from now on though - no more dry food, weigh her regularly (at least monthly), keep an eye on her teeth for dental issues, watch those pee patch sizes and maybe you can catch any future issues nice and early!

No, she was never on insulin. Numbers went like this:

12-7-12 359 Started feeding FF for about 3 wks
12-26-12 271 Listened to the vet and put her on Hills Dry W/D for almost a month
1-23-13 491 Vet wanted insulin started but I started feeding all canned foods
2-7-13 219
3-6-13 110

She has gone from 18 lbs in December to 14 lb 12 oz yesterday. Does that sound about right?

Next week she gets three teeth out. She is acting just fine.

Thanks for the replies!
