I had to take Rom to the vets yesterday, as she hadn't seen him in 6 months and he needs more insulin. The vet was very shocked when she saw him! She said he is looking better than she has ever seen him, he has lost over a kilo (he is still 7.5kg!!) and she was happy with my dosing, his levels and the spreadsheet. She said there was no point in doing a fructosamine test as I was testing a lot, and that was telling us so much more than that test would. To think I was planning my argument against not having that test on the way there! I think she has been doing a bit of research as she seemed to be more informed this time about bouncing rather than Somogyi. She is totally happy with what I am doing, she was curious about how, when and what I fed him and said I had it all under control, and she really wasn't needed apart from insulin. And it is all thanks to this board.

Is such a relief. I had such a fight with the other partner vet when I said I was switching to wet low carb food, even quoted all the facts and figures from this board. She said she would have to do her own research and call me back. Guess what, she never did, so I guess she now understands. But I wonder why the waiting room is still stacked with Hills Prescription food though?
