His stomatitis is back and he has a loose tooth.....of course he's not eating much. It began yesterday & I started him on ATB's right away. All I had was Tram for pain and it made him goofy.....he just doesn't do well on Tram and metabolizes it very slowly so we are almost 24 hours since the miniscule dose (1/8 tab) I gave him and he's still stoned.

We have an appt for 11 and I'll ask for fluids and some Bupe.....who knows what they can do with the loose tooth. I don't think sedation would be good at this point.

Poor guy.....it's always something.

Update - Appt was pretty depressing. Not only was the back corner of his mouth inflamed but also the area on both sides between the gums and lips on the bottom. She suggested they pull the rest of his teeth since he only has 12 left. Well he is in no shape to do any anesthesia now so I have to wait until he gets better. My normal vet is on vacation until the 10th so I would wait until then anyway. At least I got some Bupe for him....

I just saw your earlier update, about his mouth issues flaring up, and your new post. Poor little guy. I'm sure he feels horrible...and no wonder he doesn't want to eat with his mouth all sore. Is there any other way to feed him? Water down his food (like a gravy consistency)? I know when Poopy didn't feel well (back when he had the horrid UTI) he'd eat off my finger but not out of the bowl. Will Houdini do that?

Still keeping fingers and paws crossed. cat_pet_icon

Poor Reagan........you feel so bad for them. Sending many healing wishes that he starts eating and the dental will help him feel better when it can be done. He seems to have such a rough time every now and then and I know how hard you try to help him. I wonder if cold food would feel better than warm.....so hard to know how to stimulate an appetite when the mouth is bad. Geez, make sure they don't give him Convenia, Gail. Sometimes we forget to remind the vets about that drug and sometimes we just forget it ourselves.
