We are taking Smokey in for an ultrasound tomorrow morning to see if it will tell us anything about what is going on with her pancreatic #s and could use lots of good well wishes that some answers with good solutions are found.

I took her in for a 6 month wellness check a week ago. Nothing concerning going on she has been acting fiesty, playing with the kittens, being very loving and outgoing and just a happy girl. Her BGs were good, still a little unsettled since the ear meds they gave us, but in a better range. The only thing I had a concern about was it seemed like she was losing a bit too much weight and when they checked she'd lost a full pound since March so we decided to run the full blood work to see if something was up. Her lypase came back over 6000 when she said it should be under 1400 ?? Did xrays and every looks normal except her liver looks small. We took more blood and sent it off for the fTLI test I believe, and were surprised when that came back positive for pancreatitis. Since biopsy would mean a trip to the UofMN 4hrs away we are starting with an ultrasound to see if it tells us anything. I am baffled. Everything I see on pancreatitis talks about pain and vomiting and inappitance and I don't see any of that in her which scares me wondering what else is going on in there causing the weird numbers. nailbite_smile

Sending you prayers and good thoughts as you undertake this. I have had some weird numbers on lipids and my cat seems fine so I know how you must be feeling. It is difficult when they seem just fine and the vet suspects something. I have passed on the ultrasound to look at her pancreas since her blood work is normal and I just can't afford it right now but I do relate to what you must be feeling.

Good luck and keep us all posted.

Thank you all. They found a small nodule in her pancreas and her liver looks "bright" so they are sedating her now to aspirate. My girl doesn't sedate well, low blood pressure 60s/30s and low respiratory rate, so please keep the prayers going for her. I am so hoping that whatever this is, because we've stumbled across it early we will be able to get rid of it quickly and easily.

Well everything went well and my girl is home. :-D She has started some vomiting, but I think she is just stressed and she ate some food when she got home. The Dr that did the work today seems to think we are probably looking at chronic lowgrade pancreatitis or the "triad synrome" with the liver also showing problems. Not wanting to make any diagnosis without the needle biospy results, but he seems to be leaning that way. If that is the case we are probably looking at steroids as part of the treatment :( but I can live with that if it gets this better. I can even live with us going back to insulin. Diabetes we know how to handle. I just want it to be treatable.
