Trubleu & Gompers

Thanks to all the advice and support from this amazing place, our vet believes Gompers is maybe heading for remission (GC here ). Because he has allergies and is prone to infection and other threats, I worried that there was little hope for his comfort, let alone remission, but he has steadily improved over the past 14 months,
It took me months before I could manage to do a glucose curve. Gompers is the most patient, sweetest patient, suffering many dry sticks before I could finally do the job. He waits patiently for his shot every time, every day.
When I first arrived here, Gompers’s neuropathy was fierce enough that he could walk only a few steps at a time. He had to be lifted onto his favorite spot on the bed many times daily. He needed pee pads.
This month, we have been steadily dropping his insulin. He is at 2 units this week, and I am drawing a new GC today.
Gompers can jump on the bed by himself and likes a stroll around the house and up and down the stairs. He graduated from pee pads to a senior (shallow) litterbox, and now uses a regular box.
I am so grateful to this board for advice, comfort, and encouragement.
