Tibby was lounging in the great room waiting for breakfast. I wasn't able to get a blood sample from his ears after several tries. He shakes his head hard each time, so even when I do get a drop, it's going to go flying! Haven't they come up a clip-on LED with sensor in the 16 years since I last did this??
I combed out his tail a bit, and he was OK with that until I got near the base. While I was washing out the comb, I turned to see Tibby washing his butt! I haven't smiled so wide in a long time! Then he washed his paw too.
He had a hearty appetite, no problem giving the insulin, but the oral antibiotic was not welcome. At least he didn't spit any out this time. He put his paws on the plate and kind of laid with his belly on the floor to eat. His back legs are weak but he can walk for short distances before he has to plop his butt for a while. I thought this was due to low potassium, but maybe it is neuropathy? I didn't have to deal with that in my previous 2 diabetic cats.
I remember having to roll/rotate vials of insulin in the past. Is that needed with Lantus/glargine? For now, I am rolling it to be sure.
