My vet put Squallie on Purina ProPlan DM dry food, and I keep reading that it's actually not all that good for our diabetic kitties. I am trying to transition all my fuzzies to wet food but they are dry food junkies, especially Squall. Can anybody tell me what the actual carb percentage is for the ProPlan DM?

Also adding insult to injury after my a.m. insulin mishap, I'm pretty sure Squallie got into the other kitties' dry food this afternoon-it's Merrick No-Grain Chicken. Anyone have any idea about the carbs in that? Obviously, we're having a tough day at the zoo! Thanks for the help!

DM as a WET food does look to be in a good range as per the chart here: http://www.catinfo.org/docs/FoodChartPublic9-22-12.pdf

It is listed on page 31. The only thing I would think not all that good, is the price. The other number I found was that there was an 18% MAXIMUM carb% in the dry food. Personally I would not trust something where you never know what you are getting, and could very well always be over the 10% recommended.

Thanks! Wish my guys were not such dry food addicts, I'm having a a seriously tough time transitioning them to wet, silly kitties would rather go hungry than eat the canned food :-(. I was very concerned about Squallie eating my other guys' dry food, since I don't know the % carb in that (but suspect it is fairly high), but his numbers haven't seemed to go up because of it so I guess it's okay for now.
