The first time I took his BG, it registered HI. Second time was 532. Sigh. I was hoping to get some sleep tonight.

Can hunger cause or contribute to a BG spike like this? Gomez was really hungry tonight - for the first time in a long time. He started bugging me about an hour before dinner time and he scarfed down his dinner.

Or manybe this is just another bounce off yellow.....

I think it's the opposite situation - high BG makes the cat feel like he is starving.
Could be but I was trying to see why she cant go from dry to wet... i know we had a rough patch changing diet, because of Porto’s IBD mostly, but once we did, we got some better BG numbers.
Just a suggestion.

I agree with you. I was answering FluffBunny's question about BG causing hunger from her second post above.

I know canned food would be much better for Gomez. But he is 16 years old and he has eaten dry food his whole life. I have had him for only 2 years (long story,) and I feed my other cat canned FF, but Gomez simply won't eat it. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure just before his diabetes diagnosis and his prognosis is not good. He also lost 1 1/2 lbs. in just 3 weeks and is down to 8.25 lbs. I just can't afford to get into a contest of wills with him over food. I am just grateful that he is eating again. For a while, I had to supplement his meals by syringe feeding him canned food just to get enough calories into him.

I understand the situation now, too bad Gomez isnt having any of the wet but I am glad he is eating! Maybe you can try and find some dry that is lower in carbs. Depending on where you live, we could advice on some. Royal canin for diabetics is still quite high in carbs and a lower one could, maybe, improve those BG numbers.
