Hello Everyone, I am going away for a few days and Bubba is going to be taken care of by my brother and sister in law. I was wondering, based on his numbers for the past week, if you think it would be ok to not test while I am gone. My sister in law is an RN, but I just don't have the confidence that she'd be able to do it the right way. So basically, Id be able to test him tomorrow mornings or afternoon, and Sunday night when I get back. It would be 2 full days of no testing. Thanks, Merry

With no insulin being given, BGs are not required unless the caretakers see signs of of high BGs like excessive drinking. However, for two days I would just now worry

Thanks Larry. I figured I had to keep testing for the full 12 days to be considered in remission. I have another question. I just read a post where someone said if you go off the insulin cold turkey its no good for the pancreas and remission will be short lived, Bubba went off cold turkey, I didn't think the numbers justified giving him insulin.

Thanks Larry and Wendy, My sister in law will keep an eye on him but I told her not to test his blood unless he looks a little off. No sense upsetting him by having someone who isn't use to doing it try to test him if I don't have to. Even though she's a nurse, there is a big difference between getting blood from a human arm and getting blood from a cats ear.
