So, Brandy has been on insulin just over a week. Her numbers are still high (higher than they were before insulin) at certain times. Last night she was 330 something. Her previous remaining symptoms after her diet change a few months ago were: flooding the litter box and huge appetite.

I have not been able to tell if the litter box issue has let up, but she's definitely not as ravenously hungry. She doesn't beg for food. She eats well, but she doesn't scarf it down anymore and actually leaves a tiny amount in the bowl. So, that's a good sign. I don't how the clinical signs improve, but not the glucose readings

I would try another day or two at one unit. and see what happens. I would try to get a +5 or +6 too as well as a preshot BG.
It may be that one unit is too high.

I might cut back to .5 unit twice a day. It is very hard for me to get +5 etc readings because I work full time. I did get one, but that's a rarity.

Have you spoken to your vet about a possible dose reduction? That would be the first thing I would do, in a situation where I was unable to do much BG home testing. I agree with Larry and Kitties, I would probably stay with one unit for another couple of days, but it's difficult to make any recommendation because there really just isn't enough information present. Is it possible for you to get AM and PM pre-shot numbers? That would be a big help to us when it comes to giving dosing advice! Also, any +5 or +6 would be helpful. The more information you have, the better decisions you can make! :):)

Well, I have to find yet ANOTHER vet (long story) but prior to that, the vet suggested a dose INCREASE, not reduction, so I don't know. Usually I can get morning and evening pre-shot numbers. This week we have my step daughter so mornings and evenings been a little hectic.
