I finally am starting to get Gypsy used to testing. I was doing it wrong before...but I studied the videos and pictures (as well as my cat's ear) and I finally figured it out. I think I pricked too hard this morning....her ear bled really badly! She hates the clicking of the pen, so I am freehanding it. I'll have to work on not doing it so hard.

Last night she was at 200 and this morning it was 207. I'll try to check at the nadir today. I'm off work, so it's one of the few days I can get that done. Those are good numbers right? Based on the spotty numbers I got before, she's gone down. She used to be around 215 roughly before shots. Hopefully we can finally start doing regular tests. She's on 2.5 units of prozinc right now. I guess I just wanted to let you all know where she is, thank you for your support and advice, and ask if you have any advice, words of wisdom, anything else I should be doing?

These aren't bad pre-shot numbers. It is good that you are planning to get some of those mid-cycle numbers so we can see how the insulin and dosage are working.

When you prick too close to the ear vein, it usually bleeds a lot. No worries. I've done it many times.

The numbers we want to be "not bad" are those mid-cycle numbers. I look forward to seeing where these are. Although I don't have ProZinc experience, others will be able to give you good advice on that insulin.

Great job on learning how to test properly and getting Gypsy used to it!

Just tested. 137. Managed to avoid her bleeding like crazy this time too. Thanks for letting me know what happened! I was so worried that I had hurt her even though she seemed fine. I'll try to do midpoint testing on the weekends from now on.

THANK YOU for the specific instructions! I think I did it right. Her SS should be attached. Let me know if it didn't work. I tend to be a bit of a dummy when it comes to technology. However, I followed the instructions to the letter, so hopefully all is well. :)

Great job! I cans see the spreadsheet. Next time you get a low Number like that 70, I would get another test in an hour to see if she dropped any further.

Did you get a mid cycle test today?

I can't do mid cycle tests during the week. I work 12 hour shifts most days and u just work too far. I hope to do those in the weekend. Tested this AM and she was at 118! I'll update the SS tonight. No insulin last night or this AM. Thank you all so much for the spreadsheet tips and helping me home test. I wanted to do both but it was a bumpy road. I feel like we're finally on the right track. :-D

A lot of members have that issue so they just get preshot tests (mandatory) and a quick before bed test which is 2-3 hours or more after the nighttime shot. If the before bed test is less than the pre shot test number you may want to set the alarm for a test a few hours later as this implies an active cycle.

118 is a great number!
