Hi everyone, I been on and off the site a little these past months. My mom's hemoglobin has been on a roller coaster ride and so have we. She is now 8.7. I been so stressed out I can't think of any thing else. But I do have a question about glucose meters. When have two meters form CVS called TRUE result. I read on this site that these meters show low numbers and others show higher numbers. When I can check Perkins, which is not often he shows about 177, I can't help but wonder if he is higher because he drinks a lot of water. I am thinking about ordering one from walmart, relion I think. Going to the vet is now out of the question, we are out of credit so I have to be careful with perkins. I feels like the weight of the world is on our shoulder, I am sure people can relate.

The Relion is a good meter that lots of us use....The Confirm and the Micro take the tiniest sample size and the strips are affordable at $35.88 per 100

We all understand how you feel too....seems like there's always something in life going on to make it harder on us....but those times make us appreciate the good times that much more when they come around

Sending hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, I think I saw a meter online from walmart for around 10 dollars, I think that is the one we will get. God bless

They also have the Relion Prime and Ultima.....I've heard more errors come up with those meters although the strips are cheaper for the Prime (but if you end up using 2 or 3 each time due to error messages, you don't end up saving any money)

The meters are all about the same price....it's the strips that are the things you need to pay attention to

ok, thanks, which meter is the one you said a lot of people here use?

I've used the Relion Prime for a year now and have only gotten a few errors. It takes a bit more blood than the micro or Confirm, but my cat is easy to test and bleeds well so I don't have problem with it, and the strips are much cheaper.
