I am conducting a home glucose curve on my cat (Pookie) for a new vet I've recently been doing business with. She was open to the idea of home testing and gave me the option to do a curve at home and send her the results for evaluation. I am wondering if I should do another curve once Pooks is off the medication entirely, as I suspect the numbers may not be entirely true. It's hard to tell what his numbers really are because he has had these infections for awhile and he's been running anywhere from 250 to 450 for the last couple of months. Since he's been put on these medications (see "Pookie's profile"), there's been a slight improvement with his numbers, but not by much. In addition, one of the medications he's on is for his recently diagnosed hyperthyroid.
I've been trying to locate resources as far as how other types of medications and conditions (specifically, hyperthyroidism) impact blood sugar, but haven't had much luck or it's possible I overlooked it.
Thoughts/feedback appreciated.
