Tagging some people in the UK to give their feedback. You may also want to change your subject line to something like Question for UK people. @Elizabeth and Bertie@Critter Mom, what's a good meter for a member in the UK?
Quite a few folks in the UK use the Accucheck Aviva. I've not tried it myself but understand that it only requires a small blood sample. And, as with many meters, the test strips (the main cost of 'hometesting') can often be bought much more cheaply on Ebay (sometimes around half the RRP or even less.)
Anything by a major manufacturer such as Bayer or Abbott is likely to be fine. Find one that uses a small blood droplet and has inexpensive test strips.
