i switched my kitty to 100% fancy feast classics wet food now which he loves.

He is 13.5 lbs about (was about 17 before the diabetes). He seems to be holding at around 13.1-13.8lbs now.

My question is - fancy feast says 1 can per 3 lbs - should I be giving him 2 cans in AM and 2 in PM?

Right now I have been doing 1.5 in am and 1.5 in PM. Wasn't sure if I should add anything else like a treat or snack.

I took him completely off dry food. Just want to make sure I am not underfeeding him. He meows every time I walk near the cans haha (but he was also used to free feeding now I do 1 meal in morning and 1 meal at night).

Unregulated diabetics are always hungry because they can't get enough energy from their food into their cells. You could try feeding a smaller meal mid day and again before bed.

Is Nacho on insulin? I don't see any record of doses on your spreadsheet. You also don't have any pre shot BG numbers if he is on insulin.

He is not yet - I just got Lantus the other day - I have a vet appointment this week to learn how to administer the insulin and check in with my vet to get everything started.

I am normally at work during the day - would you recommend a timer for dry food? I switched him to 100% wet now. Or should he be ok getting fed twice a day since he will be on insulin soon?

I have been getting into the swing of home testing and getting him to not mind it.

Thank you!

Some people put wet food in the automatic feeders. They freeze chunks for the later meals so they're fresher.
