Ok Im still struggling to get Carl at a good dose. I have filled in some more info. Its spotty because Ive been in and out of the hospital myself. I had a friend watching him and testing him but she wasnt able to run over here every couple of hours and some days she didnt come at all.

If you could take a look at the numbers id appreciate it. I know its spotty and days are missing and to be honest i dont even know what was going on those days. Im annoyed but what can I do. I have noticed that since I switched his food and got a new bottle of insulin that his numbers are staying in what seems like 300- 400s all the time.

darn it! i just wrote a whole nice thought and poof!
I will be shorter now, if you are feeding only carb appropriate diet, I would go to 1unit with a commitment of amps and pmps recording and some spot checks.
Reason? just as likely as anything else she has too much insulin in her.

I think Lori and Sue are giving you good advice. Sorry to hear you have been in the hospital. Hope that is over now. It's so good that you have been able to do any testing when ther is so much going on in your life. Wonderful because it keeps your cat safe.

I switched him to friskies classic pate. Its still a wet food. Im checking for keotenes, still a no on those. yay. but I need to figure out why his numbers are so high. I think hes getting a dose thats too high. Im going to call the vet tomorrow and I think im going to re-express my concern and tell him I want to just start over. I know Ill be into the doctors more but hopefully the hospital takes a hike so I should be able to test him every 2-3hrs throughout the day.

If you switched from dry to LC canned, I would drop the dose back to 1u and see how the #s look. I would not wait for an OK from your vet. Try it and see. If the #s get worse or stay the same in a day or two, then you can reevaluated.

Can you put a note in the SS where you changed the foods over? That will help everyone understand the picture and give you the best advice.

I agree with dropping down to 1 unit every 12 hours.

I hope everything is ok with you.

Yay for no ketones, spot tests are great to give you a picture of how the insulin is working. Sometimes scheculing is challenging so whatever tests you can get are great. Sometimes a +4 or +6 in the morning or if you wake up early one morning a +9 or +10 can help alot.
