Hi all!
First a little info: Diana, 12 year old Norwegian Forest cat, switched to low carb wet food completely 12 days ago. I'm testing at home with an "On Call Platinum" human BG meter. She's on Lantus two shots/day.

Question: Diana has after the switch had pre-shot values of 5.4 ( 97.2) to 8.0 (144 mg/dl), I'm giving between 0 - 1 line on a u100 needle (I don't know what that is in full units usually used here) depending on the situation... She's never dipping under 5.5 (99 mg/dl) for the nadir with injection. I'm work from home so I keep a very close eye on her.

What is you experienced peeps take on this? Should I keep doing what I'm doing or would you recommend a different course of action? Very grateful for your help!

Also, if this should be in the Lantus forum, I apologise. I wasn't sure.

Got no advice for you but they seem like good values and illustrate completely how important it is to change diet :). Very happy for your kitty! I have a Norwegian forest cat too! They're beautiful.

Hi Maria,

I'm glad to hear that Diana's BG levels are in a fairly good range since the food switch and I hope she's feeling much the better for it. :)

No need to apologise for posting here, BTW. That said, I think you'll get much more input on how to proceed going forward if you post on the Lantus & Levemir board; there's more intensive support for L-insulin users over there. :)

It's so very true! It's made such a world of difference!
NFO's are just lovely, my favorite breed <3
