Well that was a bust  They couldn't get enough urine to make sure the UTI was completely gone so I have to take him back tmw, he's somehow lost even more weight (down to 10.14 lbs from 10.4 lbs pre-infection - this is a cat that used to weigh 16 lbs) even though we're feeding him more than we were before the UTI, and based on the full blood panel they ran when determining the UTI the vet has no idea why he's losing weight as the blood panel showed no major illness....other than diabetes of course ;-) She agreed his numbers look good and said to give him no more than 2 units (although based on what we've been seeing here I'll probably try 1.5 and see how it does), she said to keep an eye on his weight over the next 2 weeks and if it doesn't seem to be any better she'll do a test that Texas A&M runs for intestinal/stomach issues.
I wish I knew what the heck was going on in his little bony body, his numbers are better, he certainly doesn't lack an appetite, he still seems happy (other than wanting food all the time), and yet I can't get him to gain any weight  I have to say, based on his former stature, getting George to gain weight was not a problem I thought I'd ever have!
Debating getting some Royal Canin Recovery and feeding him that for a few days just to see if I can get some weight back on him, anyone else have any ways they've been able to safely get a diabetic cat to gain weight?
