AMPS 377

Glad to see a better number but even more confused about yesterday! And for Sue and Carl, in case you didn't see my response in the last topic, he hasn't had any dry food as we're trying to get the other cat on wet food so that's all she's had this week. I do think he may have eaten some of her wet food yesterday even though we thought it was high enough he couldn't get to it but don't know if that caused his higher number last night. Also, having trouble getting urine to check ketones, he's a bit of a brat when it comes to doing that type of thing

That amps looks better. I don't know about yesterday. Someone here started "SCDD" which means same cat, different day because they throw curves that we can't explain.....

Have you tried the aquarium gravel? It was the only way we could catch Oliver.....

We got a new clean box, filled it with an inch or so of aquarium gravel and left him in a room with it. They hate a clean litter box so he went. Since it doesn't absorb, you are able to dash in and get a sample. :-D

They do like to fill those boxes don't they haha :-D Although while George likes to pee in his litterbox he's taken to pooping next to the box which I could deal with if it was solid poop but it's an in between right now that smells like death when moved apart - just came home to find two different piles near each other and one of them went up the wall onto the baseboard - really George, the wall??? I've been trying to clean the box multiple times a day since I'm off this week but he's still pooping outside, I just gave him the last of the Clavamox pills for his UTI so I don't know if this is behavioral or if he still doesn't feel good....although he hasn't peed on anything lately like he was before he was diagnosed with the UT so I don't know. He's pooped outside the box on and off for years but now it's almost every time, blech.

Howdy

Poopy will poop outside the box if the box isn't large enough. He's a pretty big cat so a normal size box just isn't large enough for him to poop in. He seems to prefer facing a pile of litter while crouching to poop. I know...a bit graphic. In a normal size box, when he faces a pile of litter, his butt hangs over the edge.

First off love that your cat's name is Poopy

My guy is pretty tall and long so I have the biggest box I've been able to find, but I was just looking at the catinfo.org website and saw info on how to make a super-sized litter box out of a storage container, may have to try that! I have seen my guy hang his butt over the side before so I understand poop getting out that way, but right now he's just flat out ignoring the box when it's time to poop and going in front of it

+8 AMPS 128 - starting to worry this is one those long rides that could mess up his PM shot...but I'll definitely take 128 over a high number!

What's the next few hours like? Can you offer food now (4 hours before the test) and then stall with feeding from +10 on until he gets up to 200? If so, then I'd suggest shooting a little more than we did the last time this happened.

I actually gave him the rest of his food a little after 5pm which is why I'm concerned about the long trip bc almost 3 hours after he ate he came down instead of going up :? Gonna check him again at 10p and see where he's at.

Sorry, posted this in the wrong thread...
Interesting...last cycle, this dose dropped him far and fast, but no bounce the morning. Same dose into a lowered number, and less drop, later drop, and a surf. I wonder if there's a pattern to this, not just with George, but with prozinc in general?

As far as a pattern emerging, I really wish I would have tested him at the same time everyday so we could have a really clear picture, this every other hour thing I have going on is confusing :? I guess at least I know I can give him a normal dose tonight and continue the pattern-searching.

Testing at the same time every day is overrated. Shot times are a must, of course. But like I said earlier....two cycles in a row, one deep and the other long. You wouldn't really know that if you had tested at the exact same times each cycle. Random tests are a good tool.
Looks like this dose will/can drop him by 300 points, so I'd say with anything 350 or less, maybe 2.0? Unless you are up to watch for a low.
Carl

I'm hoping to be up til +4 PMPS so depending on where he's at for his shot I may give him a normal dose, but we'll see. Looking at his previous +10 AMPS numbers and PMPS numbers I have no idea what to expect tonight!

Not bad. He doesn't seem to be bouncing badly. I think 2.25 is good, but if you can get a +3 or +4 you'll see if he's dropping too much too soon. Unfortunately I won't be awake to see it! You know what to do in case he goes low, right? Feed the drop, but don't overfeed, and don't panic unless you see a 50 or less. If you see anything like that, post in Health or PM anyone you see who is online at the time.
