Took Genghis in for her re-check after Dx last Saturday 6/20.

Her spirits are improved, she's drinking less, peeing less, she's actually venturing around more and jumping into laundry baskets (clean laundry only, of course ) and up on my daughter's bed. I was so pleased that she had actually gained a pound in the last week and a half or so - I believe this means her body is actually getting some proper nutrients and the insulin is doing its job.

The vet was just thrilled with the information I was able to give him, including a curve done at home. I love him more and more - he said, without rancour, "Well, thanks for doing my job for me!" and "I wish all my pet parents would do this sort of thing." Then he charged me $0 for the examination - I checked my invoice and the only thing on it was my dog's heart medication and the new syringes.

Big, huge, gigantic thanks to this site and the members of this board who post information, offer advice, tell their cat's story so that we can all learn. It's early days, I know, but I really don't think Genghis would have made the kind of progress she did without the tools and information offered here by the people and cats in it. :bighug:

So glad Genghis is doing so well! A real testament to her "Mom"! Gotta love those laundry basket antics!

I'm happy too ,my Foxie is better and my vet was happy with her yesterday
She gained 1.7 pounds.
He hopes after 6 or 8 months we might get her off insuline.
I pray for that
Good luck to you and your kitty

Thank you so much.
We all need a little luck these days.
Never dreamed that my magnificent ,perfect body and healthy all her life Foxie will end up with diabetes .
Why?No answer I guess
Glad your kitty gained weight

Your Foxie sure is a beautiful girl! How old is she?

My problem with Genghis, now about 15, was certainly her diet (dry food) and that she was overweight. I'm sure that's why she ended up with diabetes.

Here's hoping Foxie can get off the insulin - if not, I have heard lots of cats do just fine and live good, happy lives even on insulin. So nice she has gained weight! Best wishes!
