Have an issue lately with Loki, he is hungry and I mean hungry about 2 hrs prior to his test. I will give an example of his schedule.
AMPS- fed after test
+6- test and then 1 oz or so of food
+12 test and then his dinner.
I have been giving a snack at + 4 also
For example it 1 1/2 hr till his +12 and dinner and he is all over me to eat.
I do not think I can give him anything right now as the food will bring up his numbers, so how to handle this I wonder? I have given him Bonito Flakes at every test and now he jumps up on the bed and waits to be tested when he sees the testing kit.
How do you guys handle something like this.
Thanks for your input.

Of course he wants to eat during the "forbidden two hours". He's read the "rules" and he's being a cat:-)

It was easy for me. I usually wasn't home or awake during those two hours, so I didn't have to deal with Bob's "feed me NOW" attitude.

One method is a timed feeder, if that's practical for you and him.

Thanks Carl and why I did not think of that when I bought a timed feeder 2 weeks ago, now the issue is the other 2 cattitude who live with him, I wonder where Loki got his cattitude? Should I look in the mirror? I am a bear when hungry too

I'll usually feed him about 2 1/2 to 3 hours before his shot time to help curtail the "2-hour hunger game."

Lately, however, I've been getting a bit more lax simply because I've recorded enough data to know which food will spike his BG and how high. I've also started shooting low numbers for the last few weeks, so even if he gives me a 150 and ate twenty minutes before I tested him and is really at 110, I'd still be shooting him anyway.

and honestly, if he is realy hungry then give him some food and don't worry about it. I kept food out all the time and never really followed the 2 hour rule....just some food for thought

How does he react to food? How big is the food spike after you do feed? If its not too big I dont know if I would worry about the 2 hour rule. But if he is low when you test you should bear that in mind before you shoot.
