Hi all,

I don't know if there is anyone that can give me some advice or share their experience.

I am just not making any progress with my cat Stan. His BG is still very high, a few weeks ago we had DKA but he came through that and is now on antibiotics for a suspected UTI.

Today I couldn't get him in for breakfast and insulin.

He is usually starving but doesn't have a big appetite over the last few days.

His BG at the moment is 21 and ketones 0.2

I also wonder if he could be a bit bloated. He does feel very solid. I can't tell you about toilet habits as he goes outdoors and I haven't been able to witness anything.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

Simone

This is all I can offer, hopefully others will join in. Is it possible you can keep him inside for a week to control his diet and see what's happening in the litter box? My sister had an outdoor cat that needed a special food but nothing was working, the neighbor was feeding her cat on a daily basis.

For a variety of reasons, the primary one of which is the history of DKA, I think the suggestion above from Dickson is on point. Managing a diabetic cat that is post-DKA is challenging. As you no doubt know, DKA can be a life threatening condition and ketones can develop quite quickly. Insuring that your cat is eating and getting insulin are critical factors both in recovery and in ketones not re-occurring. If your cat's appetite is off and if you can't regularly test for ketones, it's a problem. It doesn't look like there's any test data on your spreadsheet so there's no way for us to comment on dosing.
