He was 370 this AM. Could be from the split dose, he was 320 tonight. I'm giving it a few days, but if he's not showing improvement I guess I'll have to have that bloodwork done. He's gone too long with high numbers.

Gave fluids, about 60ml, about 1 1/2 hours after shot. Not planned that way, I forgot at shot time, then realized he also needed his clindamycin.

I also spent some time brushing his tail. He can't groom it anymore 'cause he can't reach around that far (thank fully he can still reach his bottom) and it is full of flakes. I put his head under my other arm and let him growl. I got soooo much dander off with the Furminator and it looks better! I will try to keep doing this every few days so maybe I can help the oil moisten his skin again. I hate how ugly it looks. It's also getting thinner, it used to be thick and so beautiful, I hope the brushing might get rid of lose hair and allow some new hair to grow. He used to wave his tail like a flag.

Just trying to keep up the extraneous content. Diabetes causes cats to neglect themselves though.

Aw, I hope his tail doesn't get too skinny! Ariel has one of those bushy tail she waves like a flag, but Jeddie's tail was all thin and straggly when I got him. It is filling out a little now. I told myself I wouldn't think about his coat until I had him for 6 months (its been 3) but it is already filling out. So, yeah, diabetes can really mes up their coats.

Hope he settles back to 100-200s for PS.

I know in the past you've had Gandalf shaved, donning his tiger look. I am not familiar with this breed of cat but is it possible to shave his tail a bit to decrease the dander? Is the fur (it actually looks like he has hair as opposed to 'fur') knotting up? I'm assuming the winter months are not the most appropriate times to shave though. Has his tail area ever been shaved?

Sorry about the high numbers and my inability to offer advice. Will watch to see how he does and keep my fingers crossed for you guys. -M
