Rarely have had trouble in the past, but within the past couple weeks mr b has been doing the 'furball cough". Nothing producing. But i feel bad - is there anything i can do to help move things along?

Some have used a small amount of petroleum jelly.
Some have used a small amount of coconut oil.

A note, though. Sometimes a cough is not a fur ball. It can be a variety of other things (asthma, constipation, congestive heart failure, and more). If it isn't his normal behavior, I'd strongly suggest a vet visit.

If it is 'just constipation', a look at www.FelineConstipation.org is helpful to learn more about the feline GI tract and the options to aid it when it isn't working optimally.
