at AMPS Robbie is 387 and eating his breakfast at PMPS +9 he was given a spoonful of food by his dad who couldn't sleep thru the crying and fussing for food ( I was trying to get him to wait till at least +10 which would have been 5:30am) - at AMPS I prepared a JUST about 2.50 (closer to 2.25) since the 2.00 didn't appear to last with the plan of shooting at about 2.25/2.50 thru the weekend and see where that gets us (We'll be out of the house a lot due to the holiday). As I was putting the needle in he moved I shot and I felt it go all over my hand - and his fur was clearly wet - FURSHOT - so I prepared a very small .50 shot and got that in him - I don't think any of the 2.25 got into him but I'm going to try and come home at lunch time to test him - How do you all handle this type of situation? If you KNOW that most or all of the shot didn't go in?
Thanks

I've suspected fur shots on several occasions, but have never re-shot them. But I never had it all over my hand either. If a fair amt missed, then you're probably okay w/ the .5 - but I'd be reluctant to do any more than that.

I do most of Grayson's shots and 4 minutes of (large needle) SubQ fluids while his face is in the food bowl. He mostly doesn't notice the syringe, and makes a little noise w/ the large needle. But he's usually REALLY FOCUSSED on the food, so that helps considerably! If you're not shooting him while you're feeding, you may want to consider it. I know some people want to make sure the food has made it down the pipes before shooting. Other than Fancy Feast - Beef not agreeing w/ his stomach, I've never seen him vomit - except a few times early on, when I wasn't recording what food he ate - and it was likely beef.

I do shoot while he's eating and did this morning but he just happened to re-adjust his position and my hand slipped. His fur was all wet and I had some moisture on my hand so I'm pretty sure he got NOTHING in that shot - and he's now at 350 at +6 without much food in him at all other than his breakfast and some watered down food about an hour ago (+5). I'm gonna try and check him in 2 hours and see where he is and would love thoughts on how to handle later this evening. I'll be out from right after his PMPS till about PMPS +4 so I want to make sure I go low tonight as I won't be around to monitor any potential build up issue or crashing.

I"ve fur shot many times, but never reshot because such a whimp when it comes to dosing. Looks like robbie is ok and there is always the next cycle. !2 hrs takes a long time when you do fur shots. I hate that! It's ok though, we all do it. I even had a vet say he sometimes gives fur shots. Hmmm.

It's a full moon too! Maybe that had something to do with it.

I wouldn't reshoot but did give him a small boost of .50 since between what was on his fur and what was on my hand it was clear that he certainly didn't get even half of the 2.50. Totally screws up the day and this weekend is going to be a challenge with having to be at my sisters over an hour away for dinner - just not sure how to handle the whole mess.
