Fur Shot

Good Morning All,
I know i gave a fur shot this morning, he was very squirmy this morning and didn't cooperate very well with me. I felt the insulin squirt onto my fingers, the needle went all the way through his skin. I was sooooooo tempted to just give another shot but thought i would ask on here first. What do i do????

I know this is frustrating, but you should not shoot again. We have all done a fur shot. You just can't be sure how much insulin went in. Even people who have done this a long time and were sure no insulin went in are surprised that the numbers do go down sometimes.

Just take a breath and plan to shoot tonight.

Awwwww ok, thanks for the quick response Sue, i suppose i'll test his +6 and see if he got any......this is so frustrating!!!

It gets easier, it really does. I agree with Sue, and don't beat yourself up, it happens.

I know. But better too high for a day than too low for a minute.....

I'm just frustrated because he has been giving me such good numbers being on the 1.25 U and now he's missed a shot

I did this yesterday and it really spooked me. Didn't know whether or not to shoot again, so I didn't. Glad to read these posts and know I made the right decision! I am shooting with the "v" (I call it) method. Instead of pulling hair up in the center of Lucy's back, I use 3 fingers and grab her behind her shoulder blades to form a V shape. I then insert the needle into the center of the V. Hope this method is ok because I find I don't risk putting it all the way through the fur this way.

Sounds like a good method. Glad you didn't shoot yesterday, you have a very lucky kitty
