Fur Shot - Now What? Help please!

I've been doing this almost 3 weeks now and today was the first day I didn't get it in. Jake has cancer but has improved a lot with chemo and now that he has his strength back, he's getting harder to give his shot to! He moved away just after I got the needle in and I was pretty sure I'd completely missed and got it all on his fur. When I smelled his fur, it had a very strong medicine smell. Stupid question perhaps, but do I give a full dose anyhow? I think it really unlikely he got any in him at all but am a bit panicked about doing it again....it was 25 minutes ago now that I gave him his fur shot!

Thx so much for your answer! I'm glad I asked cause I was beating myself up thinking I was being stupid and should just give him at least a half shot. Not happy with myself! Going to have to figure out how to gently but safely restrain him as it's causing him stress to get the shots now and he's resisting!

I'm glad you did not give any more insulin. We often find some gets in even if we think none did. It is simply too dangerous to ever repeat a dose.
I used to give Sheba's insulin while she was eating her meal and she didn't even notice.
What type of insulin are you giving.? If it is a long acting one, like Lantus, you could give the insulin while your kitty is eating.
But if it is vetsulin or similar, then you need to make sure your kitty has eaten a good meal first. If that is the case you could give him a bit extra while you give the shot.
