Yo Kitties, It's here!! The Full Hunters' Moon. And tonight we will party on the beach at beautiful Lake Clear in the Adirondack Mountains of NY State. We should have a great view of the moon. We'll have a bonfire, singing and dancing under the moon, and, best of all, our Circle of Remembrance, that magical time at each full-moon party when we remember our friends, brothers and sisters who have Gone Ahead. So many of our pals have gone to the Bridge in the last months. We will hope to glimpse them through the veil, because all of the GAs will be celebrating the full moon, too, at the Bridge. So come one and come all. Emma will pick you up in the L&LL Kitty Bus, where Lola and Bug will have the pizza oven fired up and Vanessa will be serving hot drinks; or you can grab a moonbeam, or, if you are coming from Australia, the Flying Kangaroos will get you here in time.
~ Rusty, your Host

Here's the menu for the party:
Appetizers: Adirondack Microbrews; Hot Tuna Toddies; Moon Broth; Sauteed Mouseballs in Nip Gravy; Chipmunk Fillets; Autumn Insect Crunch; Wild Mushroom Compote; Sushi Bar manned by L&LL Sushi Chef Tux and featuring Chef Neko's fabulous sushi rolls made with fresh-caught Lake Clear fish; Grilled Rabbit Kabobs; Assorted Paw Prints Pizzas.
Entrees: Wild Duck Gumbo; Pheasant Pot Pie; Roasted Wild Turkey; Brunswick Stew; Grilled Lake Trout. Chef Mannie's Renowned PNW Poached Sockeye Salmon with Nip Mayo; Chef Rusty's Thunderin' Bison Chili.
Salads: Butthead's & Donny's Adirondack Field Greesn with Sunflower Seeds; Confetti Slaw.
Desserts: Maggie's Signature Cheesecakes with Fresh Cranberries; Tobey's Cimmamum Cookies; Apple Pie à la Chief Pastry Chef Tess; Surprise Dessert à la Dessert Chef Sootie; Chef Stu's World Famous Catmint Parfaits.

Kitchen Krew, get ready to roll. And we need fishercats to catch the fish, so come early, all you fishercats! And all rodent hunters show up early, too!

While the full Harvest Moon usually happens in September, skywatchers will be treated to a late Harvest Moon this year tonight (Oct. 5).

An unusual Harvest Moon
According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the name of the full moon in October is usually "Hunter's Moon," as October is when people would hunt to store food for winter. However, this year is a bit out of the ordinary, and we'll have a Harvest Moon instead.

The Harvest Moon is defined as the full moon that falls closest to the autumn equinox, which happened on Sept. 22. Usually September's full moon is called the Harvest Moon, but this year, it just so happened that October's full moon is closer to the equinox. So, September's full moon was named the "Corn Moon" instead, and the next Hunter's Moon won't happen until October 2018.

Native people in North America had several different associations and names for the full moons. According to the Ontario Native Literacy Coalition, the Ojibwe peoples called October's full moon the Mskawji Giizis, or the Freezing Moon, as the weather changes and first frosts occur at this time. Cree people called it Pimahamowipisim, or the Migrating Moon, as in northeastern North America, many bird species start migrating south for the winter in October. In the Pacific Northwest, the Tlingit called the lunation of October the Big Moon, while the Haida called the month the Ice Moon.

In the Southern Hemisphere, the days are getting warmer and longer in October. The Māori of New Zealand described the lunar months in September to October as Whiringa-ā-nuku, which means, "The Earth has now become quite warm," according to "The Encyclopedia of New Zealand."

The full moon of October also marks an important holiday for Jewish people: Sukkot, the 15th day of the month of Tishrei. The holiday is also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, and is a celebration of the harvest and the exodus from Egypt.

Just thought this was interesting especially since we have kitties from all over!

George is sat on the terrace waiting for the flying kangaroos to pick him up on their way through.

He's packed his dancing shoes and waders, is determined to catch some fish that Miss China has lured in (he's always wanting to impress her) and hopes that'll earn him a dance with her ladyship.

Izz waiting fur da kangaroos, hopez they get here soon, don't want to miss the fun, or a chance to see all da kitties dat went to da bridge.

Bubba and Forrest are awaiting the bus. I told the boys no mice tonight due to the "worm issue of recent" But, all other things on the menu are" full steam ahead" ( they get mad at me for being such a smother mother )

They both look forward to their seeing their physical friends and also those who are on the other side ,most recently Gus. cat_wings>o

Yo, The Full Moon is huge tonight. The beach party is in full swing. The fishin' was great and we are feasting on sushi and grilled fish. The mouse hunters did well and the mouse stew was delicious. Singin' and dancin' around the bonfire are about to begin. And then, in a little while, we'll have our Circle of Remembrance. Gus arrived safely at the Bridge tonight and we'll be able to wish him well. All the GAs are partying, too.
Beans: don't expect your kitties to be home any time soon. It is a wonderful night to be partying with our friends.
