Casanova is currently on 6 units of Lantus and we went to the vet on Monday and this was his reading. The vet is concerned that this number is too low and that he might be in the hypo range occasionally during the day. I'm going to do a curve but just wondered if any one has any experience with this. Is it maybe time to lower his dosage? Thanks for any help.

I'm on my phone and unable to access the spreadsheet.

Are you getting tests in the +5 to +7 hour range after giving insulin? Have any of them been below 50 mg/dL on a human glucometer or below 80 mg/dL on an AlphaTrak?

clicking on your SS link only takes me to a spreadsheet with test numbers from 2010 and 2011.

Without being able to see some current numbers, it's impossible to suggest what might be going on.

Any way to get us some more current data to look at?

I'm going to do a curve in a few days when I'm off from work. I know every situation is different, but just wondered what others have experienced when a fructosamine level comes back in this range. I'd love to think I could reduce his dosage but I'm really not sure if that is what I would need to do. With him being regulated fairly well, I'd hate to mess it up by messing around with dosages. On the other hand, I don't want him to be going hypo. I know data would be helpful but I haven't been testing him much lately. I really need to start again. Any general info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Laura

I'm at a PC and able to see that your spreadsheet is not up to date, so I have no historical information to review.

I see that you used to post in Lantus, Tight Regulation. Have you been following the tight regulation protocol?

I'm doing a curve today and wanted to post the numbers I've gotten so far. He's had two pretty low numbers, but is acting okay so I'm not overly concerned. I'll test again at 2:15 and post those results. Any thoughts are welcome.
I've forgotten how to add the link to the spreadsheet so if the link below doesn't work, please remind me how to do it :)
Thanks,
Laura

Bot links work. Yes they are low BGs. I would cut the dose to 4 units based on the info so far but would not finally decide until the curve is complete

Once you have the link in your signature, you don't need to add it again.

Looks to me like you used the web address at the top of your screen as the link in your signature. If you use the link in the "publish to the web" pop up window over in google, the SS pops up faster in a separate window for us.

Would you try to change the link for us?

How long has he been on the 6U?

Continuous use of insulin since 2010?

He's been at 6 units for about a year and a half. Yes, he's been on Lantus that whole time.

I do think I need to lower the dose so I gave him 5.5 tonight. I'll be curious to see how BGs react. I'd love to have him at a lower dose.
