I just purchased a container of frozen chicken livers, and I was wondering how often should I give them? And when giving, should I give 1 or 2? I know that they are 4mg of carbs, but didn't read into if it's per liver, or a serving or what. Considering a serving size for a human is far different than that of a cat, would I give a liver every other day, but divide it up throughout the day?

Thank you for any advice regards to this. Blackie has been on Fancy Feast Turkey & Giblets (2 cans a day... 3/4 can AMPS and PMPS, and 1/4 can +6, and before my bedtime, which is anywhere from PMPS +3.5 to +5, and she gets boiled chicken bites throughout the day, including after most testing. I won't give her any food if her #'s are lowering as I would want to see where she'll land before feeding her). Hope that makes sense. :)

I'd say one a day as a treat would be fine. One caution about chicken livers - get the best you can find. The liver is what filters toxins from the system, so if the chicken is fed a poor animal bi-product feed, then all of those toxins will be left behind in the liver. Perdue chickens are grain fed - so they are better than tyson at least. Or try to find organic/grain fed/free range stuff.

These are Pilgrim's Pride chicken livers. I'm not sure what they were fed. I was getting something else that she could eat. We are on a very strict budget, and can't afford those more expensive meats.

Should I cook them or feed them raw?

I know pilgrim's pride chicken pieces don't have broth or sodium injected into it like other companies do, so their livers are probably of the same quality. Mine absolutely love raw liver chunks. If yours will eat it raw - go that route. Cooking it will take away some of its nutritious value. I have found Perdue chicken livers in pound containers for around $1.40/lb, which should be about the same as the Pilgrim's Pride.
